So you want to get nerdy? Great!

Our coffee works on all machines but we recommend a few barista manual coffee machines for the best extraction. A simple pourover is a excellent way to make awesome coffee (most automated coffee machines use a similar technique to this), the french press is a good way to get a more bodied coffee, percolators are good for drip, aeropress is good on the go, and a espresso machine is perfect for brewing espresso or cafe drinks and is wildly different then typical coffee. You can find information on these machines online or on youtube.

Grind your coffee fresh! I cannot express how much benefit there is to grinding fresh, if you don’t grind fresh you have stale coffee and it doesn’t taste as good! If you're going to buy specialty coffee you might as well do it right. You can get an automatic grinder at Walmart for $40 and it should last you a while. It only takes a few seconds of extra time to grind fresh and it’s well worth it!

How to know if the quality of your coffee is good or bad. First off, if you're getting it from Walmart it’s bad. Period. I don’t care what their marketing is, if it’s in Walmart then it’s bad! If the bag you bought has a country origin and roast level then it’s probably OK coffee, not terrible but not good either. The best thing you can do is order from a local roastery or from a company like Driftless Coffee who only buy the best coffee and help other people around the world. For instance, no one is paying less than $4 a pound for specialty coffee, and usually no more than $7. So if your coffee is $8 for a pound then you're definitely getting low grade coffee (you gotta remember companies have to pay for shipping, retail costs, storage costs, coffee weight loss, $60k+ roaster, etc).
